Raimund von Wichera
Raimund Ritter von Brennerstein Wichera (born August 18, 1862 in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm ; † January 21, 1925 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter, court painter at the court of Emperor Franz Joseph I.
In 1864 his family moved to Hranice na Moravě ( Moravia ). He started painting as an autodidact at an early age .
Raimund von Wichera studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Christian Griepenkerl and in the special school of figurative painting with Hans Makart .
From 1901 he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . Wichera also became president of the Old Masters Guild in Vienna, taught at the Academy of Fine Arts and was an advisor to Emperor Franz Joseph I for fine arts. He held the post of court painter.
Wichera regularly took part in exhibitions by Viennese academics.
Incidentally, Wichera was the legitimate father of the Slovak painter Maximilián Schurmann (1890–1960), the son of Paulina von Geher and the adopted son of Julius Schurmann.
