Raimundas Lopata

Raimundas Lopata (* 1965 ) is a Lithuanian political scientist , publicist and professor at Vilnius University (VU).

Life

After graduating from high school from 1972 to 1983, Raimundas Lopata studied history from 1983 to 1990 at the Faculty of History at VU. From 1992 to 1994 he did his doctorate at the History Institute and at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas . He then studied political science abroad. From 1998 to 1999 he was an advisor to Prime Minister Gediminas Vagnorius on state issues. Since December 2016 he has been Saulius Skvernelis' chief consultant in the Prime Minister's Secretariat.

He was director of the Institute for International Relations and Politics at VU. He teaches subjects such as "History of International Relations" and " Cold War and European Politics ". His research areas include international relations and foreign policy, Atlanticism, regional state, relations between Lithuania and Russia , development of the Kaliningrad region .

He is also present as a political commentator in the daily press. In a book he elevates his name as Lopatologie to a synonym for media political science.
