Rainbow Islands is a 1987 published platformers Run game of the game manufacturer Taito . It is the sequel to the game Bubble Bobble .

The play figure has the ability to create rainbows that can be entered briefly. In addition, with the rainbow it is possible to capture enemy figures and also to eliminate them. The aim is to get higher and higher in a certain time before the character is hit by a tidal wave. The fifth island, DOH Island, is a tribute to the game Arkanoid by Taito with many gags, for example the boss of DOH Island, DOH himself, is the final boss of Arkanoid .

The C64 version of Rainbow Islands has been shortened so that there are only seven islands instead of ten.

If opponents are defeated with the help of the rainbow, they turn into candy or diamonds of different colors (similar to Bubble Bobble ). If the player collects all seven diamonds, he receives a large diamond after defeating the boss on the respective island. If the player has collected all the large diamonds from all the islands, at the end of the game he is shown a sequence in which the inhabitants of the islands are freed and turned back into people.
