history

The family business operates the Elbe shipping in the third generation. The family's first Hamburg port launch belonged to Otto Abicht and it was bought by his son Kurt Abicht in 1926. He further expanded the fleet and five decades later handed over the pure barge operation to his son Rainer Abicht.

With the Hammonia , the shipping company put a passenger ship into service for the first time in 1993 . Further newbuildings and acquisitions followed and the barges were modernized by the Behrens shipyard in accordance with EU guidelines . The shipyard also built the Klein Erna in 2006 and four modern barges in 2007. In 2017 the two new barges Til Abicht and Hanna Abicht will be delivered from the Feltz shipyard in Finkenwerder.

The ships and barges are in use all year round. In addition to the scheduled harbor tours, they are also offered for charter trips.
