The Behrens ship and welding technology is a shipyard , which in 1863 by Joachim Behrens at the Hamburg Elbe island of Finkenwerder was founded. The company carried out ship repairs and built new ships mainly for local fishermen .

A total of around 100 ships and around 100 smaller boats, barges and dinghies were built. New constructions were only carried out until the First World War, the new construction program consisted mainly of fishing for 30 to 50 BTUs, some herring loggers , freighters and some barges . From 1910 some motor fishing trawlers were built. The shipyard was sold to Brych & Sieber in 1991.

Of the many ships that have been built, only the gaff schooner Hermine from 1904 remains today . It is the only type of ship of this type in Germany that is still entirely made of wood and is a maritime monument in Cuxhaven . In 1984 the wooden ship President Freiherr von Maltzahn , built in 1928 at the Sietas shipyard , was repaired at the Behrens shipyard for the Museumshafen Oevelgönne eV. A new engine system was installed and many wooden parts were renewed.
