The passenger ship was built in 2006 by Behrens Schiffs- und Schweißtechnik in Hamburg-Finkenwerder . It was christened Klein Erna on April 6, 2006 . The godmother was Katja Borchers, an employee of the shipping company. Klein Erna is the main character of the well-known Hamburg Klein-Erna jokes.
