Rainer Hanschke (born December 22, 1951 in Finsterwalde ) is a former German gymnast . His home club was the SC Chemie Halle .
He won with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) at the gymnastics world championships in 1974 in Varna and at the Olympic Summer Games in Montreal in 1976 a bronze medal in the team all- around competition. At the GDR championships, he won in 1975 in ring gymnastics .
After the end of his active career, Rainer Hanschke completed a training course at the German University for Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig , which he graduated in 1977. He then worked as a trainer at SC Chemie Halle and SC Cottbus . After German reunification in 1991, he became the national head coach for the youth sector. From 1995 to 2002 he was the head coach of the German national team. He is currently the sporting director and national trainer responsible for the location for the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) at SC Cottbus.
