Rainer Hausmann

Rainer Hausmann (born September 15, 1944 in Ansbach ) is a German legal scholar . From 1990 to 2009 he held the chair for civil law , international private law , international procedural law , comparative law and European private law at the University of Konstanz .

Life

Hausmann was born in Ansbach in 1944. From 1966 he studied law at the University of Würzburg , the Free University of Berlin and the University of Munich , where he passed the first state examination in 1971 and then became a research assistant until his doctorate on The Conflict of Laws Limits to the Creativity of Divorce Judgments in 1978. He completed his habilitation in Munich in 1986 and then accepted professorial positions in Regensburg and Heidelberg as well as an extraordinary professorship in Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 1990 he was finally offered a professorship in Constance. He is one of the German co-editors of The European Legal Forum magazine .
