Peter Mankowski

Peter Mankowski (born October 11, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German legal scholar , lawyer and author.

Live and act

Peter Mankowski studied law in Hamburg from 1985 to 1990 and passed the first state examination in 1990. He completed his legal clerkship between 1991 and 1994 in Hamburg and London . After the second state examination in 1994 in Hamburg, he received his doctorate in the same year at the University of Hamburg . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for International Private Law and Comparative Law at the University of Osnabrück . From 1994 to 1998 he was also President of the International Association of Lawyers in Osnabrück . In 2000 he received his habilitation in Osnabrück and, after serving as a professor at Bielefeld University for one semester , was appointed to Hamburg University. There he has held a chair for civil law , international private and procedural law and comparative law since 2001 and was head of the study group economics and law at the Hamburg University Society (2001–2008). He was also a member of the board of directors of the International Max Planck Research School for Maritime Affairs (2001–2015) and the advisory board of the Universitätsgesellschaft Hamburg (2003–2011) and has been a member of the board of the Hamburg Lawyers Association since 2002 .

Publications

Mankowski has published numerous papers in German and English with a focus on international private and procedural law.

Further subject areas of his publications are: general civil law, fair trading law, consumer protection law, arbitration law and international uniform law as well as comparative law. He is the editor of several books, magazines and series of publications.
