Rainer Kahsnitz

Rainer Kahsnitz (born September 5, 1936 in Schneidemühl ) is a German art historian .

From 1956 to 1960/61 Kahsnitz studied law , art history and classical archeology at the Universities of Cologne , Vienna and Bonn . In 1960 and 1968 he passed the first and second state examinations in Cologne and Düsseldorf. In 1971 he was at the University of Bonn with the work Der Werdener Psalter in Berlin, Ms. theol. lat. fol. 358. A study on the problems of medieval psalteries is doing his doctorate .

Kahsnitz worked at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nürnberg from 1971 to 1993 , most recently as chief curator , and from 1993 to his retirement in 2001 as chief curator at the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.

Since 1988 he has been honorary professor for medieval art history at the University of Augsburg . Kahsnitz is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz .
