Rajgarh ( Hindi : राजगढ़ रियासत) was one of the princely states of the Central India Agency of British India in what is now the state of Madhya Pradesh .
The capital was Rajgarh . From the predecessor state Umatwara , whose Rajput prince bore the title Rawat since 1448 , the principalities of Rajgarh and Narsinghgarh emerged in 1681 by dividing the inheritance . In the course of the Marathan Wars , Rajgarh came under the suzerainty of Sindhia of Gwalior . Rajgarh was a British protectorate from 1818 to 1947 and in 1901 had an area of 2,492 km² and 88,000 inhabitants. Rawat Balbhadra Singh (1882-1902) was raised to Raja in 1886 .
Rajgarh joined India on June 15, 1948 and joined the Madhya Bharat Princely Union on June 16 . On November 1, 1956, all princely states of the Union were dissolved and incorporated into the state of Madhya Pradesh .
