Vidsel rocket test site

The Vidsel rocket test site ( Swedish : Robotförsöksplats Norrland, RFN ) is a test site in northern Sweden for aircraft and guided missiles , near the town of Vidsel . The test site has been in operation since 1958 and is part of the Vidsel test site . It is divided into the base with airfield (2300 m runway) and a restricted area about 40 km away with about 1650 km², in which sharp weapons tests are carried out. The entire surrounding airspace is closed.

The following guided weapons were tested on the test site: AMRAAM , Meteor , IRIS-T , BAMSE , Taurus , Storm Shadow .

The RFN Museum is also located on the site.

The rocket test site is part of the Vidsel test site , on which the European Space and Sounding Rocket Range is located.
