He is under contract with KSV Aalen , previously he was with VfK Schifferstadt , with whom he was three times German team champion. At individual championships, Böhringer still starts for Schifferstadt, where he also trains the youngsters.

Career

Ralf Böhringer started wrestling at the age of six. At the age of 12 he went to the sports boarding school in Schifferstadt to learn wrestling from coach Markus Scherer . At 16 he took part in the European Cadet Championships for the first time and finished 15th in the weight class up to 76 kg. A year later he was again fourth in the Cadets in Izmir , behind Theo Theodoridis from Sweden, Yasin Deliktas from Turkey and Koba Kalandadze, Georgia. Here he started in the weight class up to 85 kg, the second highest weight class.

In 2003 he started for the first time as a junior and in his current weight class under 120 kg at the Junior World Championships in Istanbul . Ralf Böhringer was 4th again after landing a clear win against Ulugbek Nazarov from Uzbekistan in the 1st round. He won against the Kazakhs Gennadi Lyashenko 3-0 and he also won against the Korean Hyeleon Hyon Lee. In the end, however, he had to take fourth place after defeats against the eventual winner Yavuz Guevedi , Turkey and the Russian Wlasislaw Kokojew (bronze).
2004 was a good year for Böhringer. At the European Junior Championships in Murska Sobota , Slovenia , after a 4-1 revenge against Yavuz Guevedi, he also won against Alexander Chernetski from Ukraine, 8-2 against the Greek Panagiotis Papadopoulus and against Sergei Maneljan from Russia 3-2. With that he became Junior European Champion ahead of Manelyan and Papadopoulus.

In 2006 he finally started for the first time in the men's world championships in Guangzhou, China . However, this was the end of the line after the first fight: Against the Swede Jalmar Sjöberg , who later finished 5th, he lost 0: 5.

In 2007 he took part in his first European Championships in Sofia , Bulgaria . There he took a 12th place.

In 2010, Böhringer became German team champion with KSV Aalen 05, became German men's individual champion, won the German Grand Prix and took part in the European Championships in Baku and the World Championships in Moscow .

He missed the Olympics twice as close as possible with two 5 places at the Olympic qualifying tournaments in 2008 and 2012. Whereby he was in the semi-finals at the qualifying tournament in Sofia in 2012 and led against the Ukrainian Evgeni Orlov. In the last round of the fight, the Ukrainian Böhringer violently injured his right elbow with a foul, which was not punished by the Eastern European arbitration tribunal. Böhringer had to give up due to an injury and did not qualify.

At the end of 2012, the leadership of the German Wrestling Federation broke with Böhringer. They no longer attested him a future on an international level and wanted to degrade him to a training partner. Thereupon Ralf Böhringer ended his career in the national team disappointed with the national coach. He has been wrestling with his hometown club at VfK 07 Schifferstadt since 2014. Here he pushes his job with the police in Rhineland-Palatinate and his family.
