Ralf Krumeich

Ralf Krumeich (born October 19, 1963 in Bochum ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Life

After studying Classical Archeology, Greek Studies and Ancient History at the University of Bonn and the Free University of Berlin , Krumeich received his Magister Artium in Berlin in 1990 with a thesis on the self-portrayal of the Deinomenids in Greece and there in 1994 with a dissertation on portraits of Greek people Rulers and statesmen in the 5th century BC . Chr doctorate. 1994–95 he traveled with the travel grant of the German Archaeological Institute , from October 1995 to February 2001 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Classical Archeology at the University of Munich , and from August 2001 to February 2009 research assistant at the Archaeological Institute at the University of Bonn. The habilitation took place in 2006 with a thesis on theater images. On the reception of a cultural phenomenon in Attic and Lower Italian vase painting of the 6th-4th centuries Century BC Chr. (Previously unpublished). In the summer semester 2007 he took part in a professorship at the University of Bochum , in the winter semester 2007/08 and summer semester 2008 he was a substitute for this professorship.

Research priorities

Krumeich works on Greek portraits in their social and religious context, on theater images in Attic and Lower Italian art and on forms of cultural transfer between Greek, Roman and Oriental culture in late Hellenism and imperial times, in particular also to Athens , Attica (landscape) and Delos in the Hellenism and in the Roman Empire.
