Ralf-Guido Kuschy (born May 10, 1958 - January 1, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German racing cyclist . He won two bronze medals at the UCI track cycling world championships in track sprint.

career

Kuschy competed for TSC Berlin in the 1970s and 1980s . He came to cycling because he lived in the immediate vicinity of Siegfried Köhler , who took him to cycling races several times and encouraged him to become a member of a cycling club. His first victory was a track race in Berlin four years after training began. He was GDR sprint champion in 1975 in the youth class A. He also won a sprint title in the races of the children's and youth spartakiade in 1975. He was twice runner-up in the GDR track cycling championships, and was third four times . In 1985 and 1986 he was third in the sprint at the track cycling world championships behind his compatriots Lutz Heßlich and Michael Hübner . 1979 Kuschy won the Grand Prix of the ČSSR in Brno in the track sprint in two finals against Lutz Heßlich.

On January 1, 2008, Kuschy was hit near his apartment in Berlin's Landsberger Allee while he was out on his bike. He died later from his injuries. He was 49 years old.

Professional

After his career ended in 1990, he remained loyal to cycling and worked as a bicycle seller and mechanic.

Honors

In 1986 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
