Ralf Leberer

Ralf Leberer (born October 26, 1973 in Tettnang ) is a former German athlete .

Career

After graduating from high school, Leberer began studying electrical engineering at Ulm University in 1993 . After receiving his diploma, he worked as a research assistant with Wolfgang Menzel at the University of Ulm. In 2005 Leberer received his doctorate with distinction as Dr.-Ing. in the field of special microwave antennas and received the 2006 doctoral award from the Ulm University Society.

Ralf Leberer came to athletics through his hometown club MTG Wangen , but did not begin performance-related training until 1993, when he started his studies and switched to SSV Ulm in 1846 . In 1999 he made it to the top of the national league when he became the German indoor champion over 60 m hurdles for the first time.

In the same year he took part in the World Championships in Seville and qualified for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney .

His sporting career ended in 2002 due to two ruptured Achilles tendons . Since then he has been concentrating on his professional career as a doctor of electrical engineering. Leberer is still loyal to the German Athletics Association as a freelancer in the media sector.
