Ralph Becker (politician)
Ralph Elihu Becker Jr. (born May 30, 1952 in Washington, DC ) is an American lawyer and politician . From 2008 to 2016 he served as Mayor of Salt Lake City , where he succeeded Rocky Anderson . On January 4, 2016, he was replaced by Jackie Biskupski . Becker is a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Utah House of Representatives and chairman of his party there.
Becker studied law and geography at the University of Pennsylvania and at the University of Utah , where he also teaches as an adjunct professor of spatial planning .
