Rocky Anderson

Ross C. "Rocky" Anderson (born September 9, 1951 in Logan , Utah ) is an American politician . From 2000 to 2008 he was mayor of Salt Lake City , the capital of the US state of Utah. Prior to his candidacy, he was chairman of the local American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) organization .

Anderson graduated with honors from George Washington University's Law School in 1978 before initially practicing law in Salt Lake City for 21 years. In 1996 he ran unsuccessfully as a Democratic candidate for Congress .

Anderson was a member of the Democratic Party until 2011, but resigned that year out of disappointment with the party's policies. He has announced his intention to run as a candidate for the newly formed Justice Party in the 2012 presidential election.
