Ralph Pedersen

Ralph K. Pedersen is an American underwater archaeologist .

Life

Ralph Pedersen received his Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1984 , and in 1991 his Master of Arts in anthropology as part of the Nautical Archeology Program at Texas A&M University . In 1995/96 he was adjunct professor (visiting lecturer) at New York University . In 1995 he also became the Archaeological Director, Vice President and Trustee of the Institute for Marine Archeology . He remained in this position until 2001. In 2003 he received his PhD from Texas A&M University. This was followed by the Whittlesey Chair Visiting Assistant Professorship at the American University of Beirut from 2006 to 2008 , and the Adjunct Professorship (extraordinary professorship) at the Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2009/10 . In 2010 Pedersen was visiting professor for anthropology and holder of the Knapp Chair in Liberal Arts at the University of San Diego , and in 2011 at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Pedersen was already involved in the recovery of the Uluburun shipwreck . Further research took him to the Dominican Republic , Bahrain , Eritrea , India , Lebanon ( Tell el-Burak and Byblos ), Turkey ( Bybassos ) and the USA ( Long Island ).
