Ralph Stelzer

Ralph H. Stelzer (born June 5, 1953 in Radebeul ) is a German mechanical engineer and professor at the Technical University of Dresden .

Live and act

Stelzer studied mechanical engineering at the TU Dresden from 1974 to 1978, specializing in construction. Immediately after graduating, he worked as an assistant at the chair for computer-aided design there. This was followed in 1982/1983 as a research assistant at the Dresden clutch factory. In 1983 Stelzer received his doctorate from the TU Dresden.

From 1983 to 1990 he was group leader CAD at the Planeta printing press plant in Radebeul ; In 1987 he was promoted to head of the technical services department. To him in 1988 Promotion B awarded.

From 1990 Stelzer worked for Eigner + Partner AG, whose head of the CAD Competence Center in Dresden he was until 1998. At the same time he was a member of the supervisory board from 1997 to 1998, and from 1999 to 2000 he was a member of the development board.

Since 2001, Stelzer has been Professor of Construction Technology / CAD at the Institute for Machine Elements and Machine Design within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TU Dresden; To this end, he has headed the Center for Virtual Mechanical Engineering since 2006. He is the spokesman for engineering and has been the dean of the mechanical engineering faculty since 2012.

In 2011 he received the prize for innovation in teaching from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Stelzer published several books a. a. with Martin Eigner on the subject of product data management systems and product lifecycle management, but also on CAD and CIM topics.
