Rama Burshtein

Rama Burshtein (* 1967 in New York City , USA ) is an American-Israeli filmmaker, director and screenwriter.

Life

Burshtein moved to Israel with her parents when she was one year old. She graduated from the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, Jerusalem in 1995. Even before graduation, she turned to Orthodox Judaism . Together with other Orthodox, female filmmakers, she looked for means and technical possibilities to finance, produce, direct and write screenplays appropriately for Orthodox Jews.

It took Burshtein a total of 15 years to complete her first film Lemale et ha'halel (German: In their place ). She searched for a year until she found the leading actress of the film Hadas Yaron and again for a year until the film was ready for publication in its final form.

Burshtein lives in Tel Aviv with her husband Aharon and their four children .
