Rama Jucker

Rama Jucker (born April 25, 1935 in Herisau ) is a Swiss cellist .

biography

Jucker studied at the Winterthur Conservatory with his father Carl-Heinz Jucker (teaching diploma). Further studies took him to Siena and Paris to André Navarra . In 1959 he won the first prize at the Pablo Casals international cello competition in Mexico, which was the start of an extensive solo career: tours in the USA, Cuba and Mexico were followed by numerous engagements in Europe, where he has performed as a soloist in most countries. As a solo cellist, he has sat at the front desk of orchestras in Basel, Zurich, Frankfurt, Cologne, Lugano and Winterthur. As a chamber musician, he often appeared with musical personalities such as Heinz Holliger , Brenton Langbein , Werner Giger , Mario Venzago and Aurèle Nicolet . Numerous CDs, records and radio recordings testify to his wide-ranging repertoire.
