Ramagundam is a city in the Indian state of Telangana .

The city is part of the Peddapalli district . Ramagundam has the status of a municipality. The city is divided into 25 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The population of the city is 229,644 and that of the metropolitan area is 252,308 according to the 2011 census. Ramagundam has a gender ratio of 967 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 75.0% in 2011. Almost 89% of the population are Hindus , approx. 10% are Muslims and approx. 1% belong to another or no religion. 8.0% of the population are children under 6 years of age.

economy

The city of Ramagundam is located in the coal fields of the Godavari Valley and has one of the largest thermal power plants in India. In addition, a large part of the population lives directly or indirectly from agriculture.

Infrastructure

The city is connected to the rest of India through its train station. The city also has a small airport, Ramagundam Airport .
