Armin Owzar

Armin Owzar (born April 14, 1964 in Cologne ) is a German historian and since 2013 Professor of German History (Histoire moderne et contemporaine des pays germanophones) at the Département d'Études germaniques of the University of Paris III - Sorbonne Nouvelle .

Life

Armin Owzar grew up in Wuppertal - Elberfeld and attended the Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium here . From 1983 to 1993 he studied history , German and French philology at the universities of Wuppertal , Lille and Münster . After completing his Magister Artium in Münster in 1993, he became a research associate at the historical seminar there, chair of modern and contemporary history. 1997 Owzar became with the study socialist alliance policy and commercial-industrial middle class. Thuringia 1945 to 1953 with Hans-Ulrich Thamer as Dr. phil. PhD. The work received the recognition award of the Thuringian state parliament . He received the Venia legendi for modern and recent history in 2004. In his habilitation thesis “Talking is silver, silence is gold”. Conflict management in everyday life in the Wilhelminian authoritarian state , Owzar examined the political communication behavior between social groups in the empire, with a special focus on Hamburg society in the period from 1890 to 1912. This work was awarded the 2004 annual prize of the Pro Civitate Austriae foundation . After a time as senior assistant in Münster (2004–2007), Owzar was DAAD professor at the history department of the University of California in San Diego from 2007 to 2013 , before being appointed a two-year substitute professor for the history of Western Europe at the University of Freiburg i.Br. in 2011 . perceived. He has been teaching in Paris since 2013.
