The Ramal de Santo Amaro is a historic railway line in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro in southeastern Brazil.

history

The Ramal de Santo Amaro was inaugurated in 1873 by the Compania Estrada de Ferro Campos a São Sebastião railway company , which had completed the railway line from São Gonçalo to São Sebastião . In 1889 this line was sold to the Estradada de Ferro Macaé - Campos company and extended to Mineiros in the same year . This railway company went over to the Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina in 1908 and the railway line was extended to the final station in Santo Amaro. Passenger traffic existed until the end of the 1960s. This line was partially deactivated, but never completely shut down.
