The Ramal do Sumidouro was a railway line in Brazil that was completed in 1885 and closed in 1967.

history

The Ramal do Sumidouro connected Melo Barreto (in what was then the province of Minas Gerais on the Linha do Centro ) with the Fazenda Bella Joana. In 1886 the railway line was extended to Sumidouro and in 1889 to Conselheiro Paulino, which was on the Linha de Cantagalo . Thus a cross connection between the two railway lines of the Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina was created. The line was shut down on March 24, 1967 together with the Linha de Cantagalo from Porto das Caixas to Nova Friburgo by the Rede Ferroviária Federal (RFFSA).
