Griva ( Greek Γρίβα ( f. Sg. )) Is a small village in the Greek region of Central Macedonia . The village is located on the southeast part of the Paiko massif at 470 meters above sea level. d. M. and belongs to the municipality of Goumenissa of the municipality of Peonia .
Griva is the largest village in the Goumenissa district with 770 inhabitants . The dominant religion of the village is Greek Orthodox and the village belongs to the diocese of Goumenissa, Axioupoli and Polykastro . (Greek: Ιερά Μητρόπολη Γουμένισσας, Αξιουπόλεως και Πολυκάστρου).
Due to the complete destruction of the village in 1912 during the first Balkan War by the Ottomans, there are no longer any existing structures that testify to earlier times.
The architecture of the village is the basic standard architecture for almost all villages in the region, with narrow streets, little alleys between the buildings and the houses that blend perfectly with the natural surroundings of the mountainside.
Surname
There are different versions of the origin of the name Griva. The two most reliable are:
- From Kriva (Greek Κρίβα), which means 'oblique'. This refers to the crooked houses on the mountain side of the Paikon.
- From Krivanos (Gr. Κρίβανος), which means 'bread bakery'. This is a reference to the bakeries in the village that produced bread for the Ottoman soldiers in the region.

Griva belongs to the Goumenissa district and is 72 kilometers northwest of Thessaloniki, 542 kilometers north of Athens and 23 kilometers north of Pella, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Macedonia.
