Ramblin 'Jack Elliott
Ramblin 'Jack Elliott , also Elliott Charles Adnopoz (born August 1, 1931 in Brooklyn , New York City ), is an American folk singer influenced by Woody Guthrie .
Life
Elliott grew up in a New York Jewish family and left home when he was 15 to join rodeo shows. After his return he learned to play the guitar and began to perform as a "singing cowboy" with Woody Guthrie and Derroll Adams , among others . Guthrie's son Arlo later said he first got to know his father's songs through Elliott. Elliott influenced folk singers such as Phil Ochs and Bob Dylan , in whose Rolling Thunder Revue Elliott took part in 1976. Elliott also appeared in Dylan's film Renaldo and Clara . In 1980 he took part in the second Folk Friends session recording in Hannes Waders Mühle.
Ramblin 'Jack Elliott also performed in 2013, for example at the Newport Folk Festival .
