Rami Alanko (born December 31, 1975 in Helsinki ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who last played until 2009 with the Espoo Blues from the Liiga .

Career

Alanko began his career in the 1992/93 season with the U20 youth team of his home club Jokerit , where he was on the ice in the junior league Jr. A SM-liiga for the following three seasons and with the team in the 1995/96 season Could win championship title. In the following season he was active for the first division team HPK and completed a total of 47 games in the top division of Finland. In the 1997/98 season , the defensive player initially completed six games in the first team at Jokerit, before he was hired again at HPK after a brief stint at Kloten Flyers from the National League A. Between 1998 and 2002, the Finn wore the Jokerit jersey again for four seasons and won the Finnish championship with the team in the 2001/02 season .

For the 2002/03 season Alanko moved to league rivals Espoo Blues and a little later had six appearances for the first time for the Finnish national ice hockey team , which were the only international appearances in his career. Between 2003 and 2005, the right-handed shooter acted as team captain for the Blues , before he moved to the Swedish Elitserien for Färjestad BK for the 2005/06 season and was able to win the Swedish championship straight away . During the current 2006/07 season, the defender signed with the Frankfurt Lions from the German Ice Hockey League in December 2006 and stayed there for the rest of the season.

In the run-up to the 2007/08 season , Alanko returned to the Espoo Blues and played there again as captain for the following two seasons. After three consecutive concussions within a short period of time, the Finn ended his career early in 2009 after only being able to play two games for the Blues in the 2009/10 season .
