Ramnagar is a small town in the Indian state of Uttarakhand .
The city is the capital of the Nainital district . Ramnagar has the status of a Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 15 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had a total of 54,787 inhabitants, of which 28,386 were men and 26,401 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of approx. 56%, followed by Muslims with approx. 43%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 81.76%.
The city is connected to the rest of the country by roads and a train station. The Corbett National Park is about 10 km from Ramnagar.
