Andrea Tippel

Andrea Tippel (born July 13, 1945 in Hirsau ; † October 4, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German draftsman and author .

life and work

Andrea Tippel grew up as the middle of three sisters in Bremen . Her parents were the architects Maria Alexandra Mahlberg and Klaus Tippel , her grandfather the art historian, architect and curator Paul Mahlberg . In 1969 she left the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and Berlin as a state-certified actress , after which she studied philosophy and psychology at the universities in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich . From 1971 she lived in Berlin. She maintained close friendships and a. with Suzanne Baumann , Peter Brötzmann , Henriette van Egten, Ludwig Gosewitz , Dorothy Iannone , Dieter Roth , Tomas Schmit and Jan Voss.

In the course of 40 years of creativity, she concentrated mainly on drawings, but also on objects, composites, artist books, literary texts and a few oil paintings. Her first exhibition took place in 1974 with Tomas Schmit at the Magers Gallery in Bonn. From 1980 artist books a. a. published by Rainer Verlag, Dieter Roth's Verlag, Edition Marlene Frei and Wiens Verlag , from 1987 editions for various galleries.

In 1997, Tippel took over a professorship at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts , and in 2000 she was a founding member of the Dieter Roth Academy (DRA). She died in Berlin in 2012.

Her works are represented in private as well as public collections. a. in the Bavarian State Library in Munich , in the Kolumba Museum in Cologne, and in the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art Bremen . Your estate is represented by the Melike Bilir Hamburg gallery.
