Suzanne Else Baumann (born April 2, 1942 in Zurich ) is a Swiss artist.

Life

Suzanne Baumann is the third of four children of the Swiss silk manufacturer Friedrich Baumann from Schafisheim , Canton Aargau , and the artist Lily Else Hansen from Hellerup, Copenhagen . Baumann spent her childhood in Kilchberg on Lake Zurich.

From 1958 to 1963 she studied at the Regional College of Art in Manchester , the Royal College of Art in London , the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen and the Zurich School of Applied Arts. From 1963 to 1971 she traveled through Europe, stayed at the Istituto Svizzero in Rome and worked with the artist Meret Oppenheim .

Since 1969 she has lived and worked in an old farmhouse in the Marfeldingen district of Mühleberg near Bern .

In 1970 she founded an agency for design and advertising for international medical congresses and made scientific drawings for university institutes. She travels to Africa, India, Israel, Lebanon, South and North America. In the eighties she founded the music and publishing agency ISIS VOICE and organized concerts with artists such as James Brown , Ray Charles , Solomon Burke and Nina Simone . At the same time, some video recordings and video clips were made at ISIS VOICE: B. "The King of love is dead", a homage to Martin Luther King, together with Nina Simone.

She has shown her works in various museums in Europe.

Works

In 1989, Suzanne Baumann published her first short stories Power and Mystery and gives lectures on "the need for totality".

In the eighties she also created the concept for “the small world exhibition” . This exhibition of 185 works has been presented at various locations since 1992, for example at the Institute for Modern Art in Nuremberg (1993), at the environmental technology fair "New Earth" in Osaka (1996) and at the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg (2003) . In 1994 UNESCO in Paris granted patronage to the “small world exhibition” through its general director MF Mayor , which was expanded in 1998 for a “World Peace Tour” together with the singer and pianist Nina Simone .

Since 1995, Suzanne Baumann has made several trips to Eastern Europe. In Belarus she organized several exhibitions of Swiss artists and initiated the first exhibition with original works by Marc Chagall . She also organized exhibitions by Belarusian artists in Switzerland. Out of their desire for exchange and understanding between peoples, the projects of the "Energy Tower" ( "Tower of Synopsis and Love" ) and the "World Garden", which were presented in Wizebsk in 1997 and have since become the project: Nature-Man- Have developed culture .

On the occasion of Kasimir Malevich's 120th birthday celebration in Vitebsk in 1998, an architectural model of the tower project was presented and a manifesto by Suzanne Baumann in Russian translation was presented by Vitebsk artist Vasily Vasilyev.

In 2008, as part of Kazimir Malevich's 130th birthday party and a simultaneous exhibition on the occasion with contemporary artists, a reminder letter and homage from Suzanne Baumann to the artist was read out in Vitebsk.
