The ramp box by Schortewitz is a ramp box that was implemented in 2001 next to the Ferdinand building on the castle courtyard in Köthen . It lies next to the Plömnitz stone box, which has also been moved there, and is entered in the local monument register with registration number 428311142 as a ground monument.

General

The 5,000-year-old megalithic complex known as the “Schortewitz Rampenkiste” was originally located northwest of Schortewitz in Saxony-Anhalt on the Fuhne on the Windmühlenberg, not far from the “Schortewitzer Heidenberg” , a large dolmen behind the house Heidenberg No. 5. This is the southernmost group of large stone graves in the east of Central Europe.

The Schortewitz ramp box is one of two stone boxes that have been moved on the grounds of Köthen Castle . The other stone box is the Plömnitz stone box .

description

The ramp box, excavated in 1912 by the district curator Walter Götze, consists of three large plates (on the sides or at the end) and three small (one missing) overlapping plates on the access side, as well as two cap stones that form a 1.55 m long chamber. The ramp has four or three delimitation stones on the side, but they can be incomplete. The burial mound was about 40 m in diameter and contained the box with the skeleton of a man.
