Schortewitz is a village in the town of Zörbig in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt . Until February 28, 2009 Schortewitz was an independent municipality in the administrative community of Southern Anhalt . The former municipality covered 6.52 km², on which 633 inhabitants lived (as of December 31, 2015).

geography

Schortewitz in the Fuhneniederung is about seven kilometers from the center of the town of Zörbig, more spaciously between Halle (Saale) and Köthen (Anhalt) . The Fuhne forms the border to the Saalekreis .

history

The ramp box , once located on the Windmühlenberg, is the oldest evidence of human activity in the area around Schortewitz. The important archaeological finds from the Heidenberg stone grave , excavated by Walter Götze in 1913, are now in the Prehistoric Museum in Köthen.

Schortewitz was first mentioned in 1156 as Solowice . Located north of the Fuhne , in contrast to Zörbig, the place historically always belonged to Anhalt .

In 1844, 266 people lived in Schortewitz.

Until it was incorporated into Zörbig on March 1, 2009, Schortewitz was part of the Southern Anhalt administrative community .

politics

On September 21, 2008, a public hearing decided by the Schortewitz local council was held. A clear majority decided in favor of incorporation into the city of Zörbig. This was approved by the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in January 2009 and completed on March 1, 2009.

The last Schortewitz municipal council consisted of five councilors and councilors.
