Administrative community in southern Anhalt
In the administrative community of Southern Anhalt in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld , 22 communities were united to carry out their administrative business. Their seat was in Weißandt-Gölzau. The administrative community was formed on January 1, 2005 from the municipalities of the dissolved administrative communities Anhalt-Süd , Fuhneaue and Upper Ziethetal (except Libbesdorf). At the same time, three incorporations took place: Cosa to Prosigk, Gnetsch to Weißandt-Gölzau and Cösitz to Zörbig in the former neighboring district of Bitterfeld .
On March 1, 2009 Schortewitz was incorporated into the city of Zörbig . On January 1, 2010, all other municipalities except Görzig, Gröbzig and Piethen formed the unitary municipality of Südliches Anhalt , which co-administered the three municipalities until they were incorporated on September 1, 2010. The administrative community was thus dissolved. It last had 15,711 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2007) on 191.58 km². The last administrative manager was Peter Nössler.
