Libehna is a district of the city of Southern Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Until the new formation of the unified municipality of Southern Anhalt on January 1, 2010, Libehna was an independent municipality in the administrative community of Southern Anhalt with the associated districts of Locherau and Repau.

history

Like most places in what is now the city of Southern Anhalt, Libehna has historically always belonged to Anhalt .

On July 1, 1950, Locherau and Repau were incorporated into Libehna. On January 1, 2010, Libehna merged with 17 other municipalities to form the city of Southern Anhalt . The last mayor of Libehna was Eicke Zschoche.

Culture and sights

In the local cemetery is the grave of a Soviet concentration camp prisoner who was the victim of a death march that ended in April 1945 .

The post mill was built in 1814 and restored in 1984/85. The mill festival takes place every year at the end of July.

Federal highway 183 from Bitterfeld-Wolfen to Köthen (Anhalt) runs in the immediate vicinity to the west of Libehna .
