Zehbitz is a district of the city of Southern Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Zehbitz lies between Köthen (Anhalt) and Bitterfeld-Wolfen . The headwaters of the Fuhne are north-east of Zehbitz . From here the Fuhne flows off in two directions, east to the Mulde and west to the Saale . The area is 1098 hectares .

history

Zehbitz was first mentioned in 1469 as Cewitz .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Lennewitz and Wehlau were incorporated.

Until the formation of the unitary community of Southern Anhalt on January 1, 2010, Zehbitz was an independent community in the administrative community of Southern Anhalt with the associated districts of Lennewitz, Wehlau (both places were incorporated into Zehbitz on July 1, 1950) and Zehmitz (on October 10, 1965 incorporated after Zehbitz). The current mayor of Zehbitz is Reinhard Ulrich.

Culture and sights

The Church in Zehbitz is a plastered brick building with a half-timbered - bell tower . The roof of the tower is pyramidal. The building was erected in 1833 at a construction cost of 3,000 thalers. In 1996/1997 the church was renovated for 180,000 marks.

Economy and Infrastructure

West of Zehbitz, the federal highway 183 runs from Bitterfeld-Wolfen to Köthen (Anhalt).
