Prosigk is a district of the city of Southern Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The village of Prosigk is located between the district town of Köthen (Anhalt) and Bitterfeld-Wolfen .

history

The community was first mentioned in 1262 . Like most places in today's city of Southern Anhalt, the place has historically always belonged to Anhalt .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Fernsdorf was incorporated.

On January 1, 2005 the municipality of Cosa (with the districts Cosa, Pösigk and Ziebigk) was incorporated into the municipality of Prosigk (with the districts Prosigk and Fernsdorf ).

Until the new formation of the unified municipality of Southern Anhalt on January 1, 2010, Prosigk was an independent municipality in the administrative community of Southern Anhalt with the associated districts of Cosa, Fernsdorf, Pösigk, Prosigk and Ziebigk. The last mayor of Prosigk was Volker Richter; the current mayor of Prosigk is Olaf Feuerborn.

The federal highway 183 leads through Prosigk from Bitterfeld-Wolfen to Köthen (Anhalt) .

Until the shutdown of the railway in 1946, Prosigk had a station on the Köthen – Radegast line of the Dessau-Radegast-Köthener Bahn . The nearest train stop is today Arensdorf (Köthen) on the Magdeburg – Halle railway line , around 4 km west of Prosigk. The bus lines 425, 427 and 428 of the bus company Vetter stop in Prosigk.
