Göttnitz is a village within the city of Zörbig in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district ( Saxony-Anhalt ). It consists of the districts of Göttnitz and Löbersdorf, which are two of the 18 places that together form the town of Zörbig.

history
Göttnitz was first mentioned in a document in 1161. North of the place is an early German Wallberg, which has its origins in Slavic times. Göttnitz belonged as schriftsässiger place to manor Ostrava . Until 1815 the place formed with the Ostrauer estate of Löbersdorf an exclave belonging to the electoral office of Delitzsch . The place was surrounded in the north on the other side of the Fuhne by the Principality of Anhalt , in the east and south by the Electoral Saxon office of Zörbig and in the west by the exclave of Cösseln under Electoral Saxon suzerainty, which belongs to the Merseburg office of Lauchstädt . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the district Bitterfeld in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th
The neighboring village of Löbersdorf was incorporated into Göttnitz on July 1, 1950. On March 1, 2004, the former municipality of Göttnitz with its district Löbersdorf was incorporated as a locality into the new unified municipality of Zörbig.
Transport links
Göttnitz is east of the Halle (Saale) –Köthen – Magdeburg railway line . The next train station is in the neighboring town of Stumsdorf .
