Mößlitz is one of the 18 places that together make up the city of Zörbig . It is located in the south of Saxony-Anhalt between Bitterfeld and Köthen and has 54 (2015) inhabitants.

history

Mößlitz was first mentioned in 1692 as the Mößlitz manor . Until the first decade of the 20th century, the estate was used purely for agriculture, the oldest buildings still preserved today date from around 1800: the older building fabric fell victim to a fire in 1741. The main building, characterized by the late Classicist style, was built around 1830 as the central focal point of the symmetrical complex, to which the manor park and meadows connect in the north. Until 1815 Mößlitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office of Zörbig . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the district Bitterfeld in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th

In 1924 the building became a sanatorium for morphine and alcohol addicts after a few extensions and alterations according to plans by the architect Paul Schultze-Naumburg . The clinic didn't last long. In 1927 the estate was sold to the monastery chamber in Hanover . The new tenant of the property, the University of Halle , set up an experimental agricultural estate in 1943 under the direction of Professor Roemer. The research continued after the war. In 1958 the site was declared public property. The university is still a user, but most of the space is cultivated as a national good. The Mößlitz branch of the Institute for Potato Breeding Groß-Lüsewitz developed from the university’s agricultural research, but now part of the GDR Academy of Agricultural Sciences . All other areas and buildings will be taken over and used by LPG Plant Production Zörbig.

Despite its long and varied history, Mößlitz has retained the character of the former manor to this day. The townscape has not changed much. Due to the recent history and the restructuring process in agriculture, new uses are to be found for the buildings and systems that are no longer required. The village and thus a rural area should be given a new perspective by opening up and creating work opportunities in accordance with today's requirements.

Gut Mößlitz Friends' Association

The Zörbig administrative community has therefore set itself the goal of counteracting the labor market situation through its own initiatives. At the beginning of 1996 the Gut Mößlitz Association was founded. Its goals are: to enable the long-term unemployed , with special consideration of women, young people and the socially disadvantaged, to gain education and qualifications, to provide help for self-help , to create educational and leisure activities for children, young people and adults, and a wide range of services in the field of nature conservation and the environment to offer. In rural areas in particular, there is a lack of appropriate educational and leisure opportunities. There is also an area for nature experiences for children and young people in the nearby metropolitan areas. For example, the development association has developed feasible concepts for adventure weeks or days within the framework of eco-camps and project days and weeks for kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools with special consideration of the environment and living habits in rural areas and are carried out by the association. Another project that is currently being implemented is holidays for socially disadvantaged children and socially disadvantaged families. Since June 30, 2001, there has also been a weather station on the estate that delivers hourly data to the Ost Wetterstudio Ost in Oderwitz, which is used there to calculate the weather forecasts. In addition to the automatic function of the weather station, there is also growing importance for the region. Numerous school classes have already visited the station for a “little weather customer”. The desired economic and cultural revitalization of the rural area has so far found many supporters and sponsors in the region.
