Rangmühle (Gnotzheim)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rangmühle is now a wasteland in the area of the market town of Gnotzheim in what is now the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Bavaria . The mill was located at the northwestern foot of the Spielberg between Gnotzheim and Ostheim . The "house name" Rangmüller is still in use in the village today.

history

The age of the mill cannot be precisely defined. But it certainly existed as early as the 17th century. In the Salbuch of the Oettingschen office of Spielberg, which was created after 1657, three mills are listed under Gnotzheim: the Rangmühle, the Simonsmühle and another mill, only called “mühl”, probably today's Letzleinsmühle . In 1801 the rank mill is listed as a rank mill alongside the lower and upper mills . In the topographic atlas of the Kingdom of Bavaria , the Rangmühle is referred to as "Oehl- und Lohmuehle". On October 20, 1805, the Rangmühle was sacked by soldiers of the French General Marmot; the residents had fled beforehand.

The Bavarian original cadastre shows the ranch mill in the 1810s with a hearth. To the west and east, the Mühlbach flowing into the Wurmbach from the right was dammed into small ponds .

The water suppliers were the Windaweiher located in the community forest as well as the Hochweiher, also known as the hillside pond, owned by the Rangmühle.

In 1859 the name Rankmühle is used again. After that the mill was demolished. Between 1779 and 1838 both the miller and his family were mentioned by name several times, also in files in the archives on the Harburg.
