Rannar Vassiljev (born November 8, 1981 in Rakvere ) is an Estonian politician and business consultant. He is a member of the Estonian Social Democratic Party (SDE). From April to September 2015, Vassiljev was Minister of Health and Labor of the Republic of Estonia.

Life

Rannar Vassiljev graduated from high school in Rakvere, Estonia. He studied first at a private business school, then at the University of Tartu . In 2004 he completed his studies in political science there.

Vassiljev became involved in politics early on. From 2002 to 2005 he was a member of the Rakvere City Council. From 2005 to 2009 he was deputy mayor of the city and mayor in 2009/2010. In 2011 Vassiljev was elected as a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). Among other things, he was chairman of the finance committee.

From April 9 to September 14, 2015, Rannar Vassiljev was in the cabinet of Prime Minister Taavi Rõiva's Minister of Health and Labor of the Republic of Estonia. As part of a cabinet reshuffle, he was replaced by party chairman Jevgeni Ossinovski .

After serving as minister, Vassiljev joined the consulting firm Miltton Nordics , which he founded in 2016 and is currently a partner for.
