Ranunculus austro-oreganus is a species of the buttercup family.

description

The stems are erect or ascending, have wavy hairs, do not root at the nodes and their base is not onion-like. The roots are never tubular. The leaf blade of the basal leaves is 2.8 to 4.3 × 3 to 5.5 inches in size, broadly rhombic to semicircular in outline and in three parts. Each of the 3 segments is three-lobed. The terminal segment is lanceolate, entire or toothed and has a narrow, pointed to pointed tip. The prescription is hairless. The sepals are 4 to 6 × 1.5 to 3 millimeters in size, bent one millimeter above their base and slightly hairy. The 5 petals are 10 to 12 × 4 to 6 millimeters in size, yellow on the top and red on the underside. The head of the achenes is 4 to 7 × 7 to 10 millimeters in size and hemispherical. The achenes are 3.4 to 4.2 × 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters in size and sometimes hairy at the base. Its edge forms a narrow rib 0.1 to 0.2 millimeters wide. The beak is 1.6 to 2.6 millimeters long, permanent, lanceolate-subulate, straight or slightly curved towards the tip.

The species blooms in May.

Occurrence

The species occurs only on grassy slopes in southwest Oregon at altitudes of 500 meters.
