Raphael Armattoe
Raphael Ernest Grail Armattoe (born August 12, 1913 in Keta , Volta Region , † December 21, 1953 in Hamburg ) was a Ghanaian doctor, author and poet. Armattoe had studied the effect of the Abochi drug on parasitic infestation in humans. He was politically active as an advocate for Togo's independence .
First he began his work with short stories, later more extensive poetry followed.
In 1949 he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by members of the Irish Parliament .

His first work was Between the Forest and the Sea (1950). Deep Down in the Black Man's Mind (1954) was not published until after his death.
