Raphael von Hoensbroech

Raphael Reichsgraf and Marquis von und zu Hoensbroech (* 1977 in Tokyo ) is a German musicologist and cultural manager.

Life

Raphael von Hoensbroech comes from old Dutch nobility and grew up in Cologne and Vosswinkel . His foster mother was Csilla von Boeselager . At the age of three he began to play the violin . At seven he won the “ Jugend musiziert ” competition. Hoensbroech completed his military service in the German Armed Forces with the staff music corps . He later studied musicology , philosophy and law at the University of Cologne, graduating with a Magister Artium, and took part in master classes with Helmuth Rilling and Karl-Heinz Bloemeke . On the side he trained as a conductor. In 2002 he took over the direction of the Cologne String Orchestra Archi di Colonia, and in 2003 the Munich Youth Orchestra and completed concert tours within Europe and Japan.

In 2005 Hoensbroech received his doctorate in musicology from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Cologne . Between 2005 and 2013 he was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Cologne, most recently as a principal. From July 2013 to 2018 he was Managing Director of the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin . With the season 2018/19 he is the artistic director of the Konzerthaus Dortmund .

Hoensbroech has been giving seminars on a part-time basis since 2011 in which he reflects on good leadership based on the role of the conductor. Von Hoensbroech has been the honorary chairman of the Csilla-von-Boeselager-Stiftung Osteuropahilfe eV since 2007

Hoensbroech is married to Christina (* 1978), with whom he has four sons and a daughter. The family lived in Berlin , he has lived in Dortmund since August 2018.
