Rapicactus is a genus of small cacti thatis nativeto Mexico .

The genus was described in 1942 by Franz Buxbaum and Hanns Oehme . David Richard Hunt no longer recognizes the genus and classifies these species in the genus Turbinicarpus . After the most recent treatment of the genus by Davide Donati and Carlo Zanovello , taking into account the various youth stages of the plants, the genus Rapicactus was declared valid again and some species of Turbinicarpus were added to Rapicactus .

A synonym of the genus is Lodia Mosco & Zanov. (2000).
