The Rapid is a small car from the Swiss manufacturer Rapid Motormower .

Development history

The Rapid company presented the vehicle on September 13, 1946. The vehicle was based on the Superior Standard , a design by Josef Ganz . The vehicles had a single-cylinder engine in the rear that drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox without a differential , a central tubular frame and an open, two-seater body. The first vehicles had a two-stroke engine with 200 cm³ or 300 cm³ displacement .

Facelift

At the beginning of 1947 a facelift took place: The front section was redesigned, and now an opposed piston engine from MAG with 350 cm³ displacement (68 mm bore and 96 mm stroke ) and 8 hp provided the drive .

More information

The maximum speed was given as 70 km / h, the weight with 400 kg and the fuel consumption with 5 to 6 liters per 100 km. The sales price in Switzerland was 3600 Swiss francs .

Production ended after 36 vehicles at the end of 1947.

A vehicle can be viewed in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne . Another is in the Louwman Collection in The Hague.
