Rasad 1 (German: observation 1) is an experimental earth observation satellite of the Iranian space agency .

The 15.3 kg nanosatellite was brought into orbit around 260 km altitude on June 15, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. CEST by a Safir-B launcher. According to information provided by Iranian authorities, it was developed by the Malek Ashtar University in Tehran and should in particular provide high-resolution images for the creation of maps. The outside of the approximately 40 cm high and 25 cm diameter satellite with an octagonal shape is equipped with solar cells for energy supply. The lifespan of the satellite was given as two months, but it reentered the earth's atmosphere on July 6th.
