Quickly indeed

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fast indeed is a Schnellpolka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 409). The work was performed for the first time on January 29, 1883 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The polka was written for the carnival ball of the journalists' association Concordia and was premiered on this occasion. A few days later, on February 11, 1883, Eduard Strauss played the polka under the title Ball Reporter at one of his concerts in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein . The origin of the actual title Rasch, in fact, is not known. In 1899, Adolf Müller incorporated the first two parts of the polka into the operetta Wiener Blut, which he composed based on motifs by Johann Strauss (son) . The operetta duet Grüß Gott, my dear child is based on this polka.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 1 second. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
