Rasmus Baumann
Rasmus Baumann (* 1973 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German conductor .
Life
Baumann grew up in Gladbeck and at the age of 16 got his first job as an organist at the Markuskirche there. In 1993 he began studying piano with Till Engel at the Folkwang School in Essen . At the same time he was trained as a church musician in Bochum from 1994 to 1996 . Studies with Michael Roll (piano) as well as with Jírí Stârek and Wojciech Rajski (conducting) followed.
In 1998 he got a position as a solo coach with conducting duties at the Aalto Theater in Essen , and in 1999 he also became the choir director of the Bochum Philharmonic Choir . After being employed as the first conductor and deputy general music director at the Staatstheater Kassel , where he worked from 2003, Baumann moved to the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen in Gelsenkirchen in mid-2008 , where he took up the post of general music director in summer 2014.
Trivia
In the Cologne crime scene crime thriller Freddy tanzt (2015), in which the entire WDR Funkhausorchester Köln participated, Rasmus Baumann played a conductor or himself.
